
Barriers Technician

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Barriers Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance (PM) and respond to emergency service calls for vehicle barrier systems throughout the San Diego area.
This is a hands-on role involving mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work to ensure barrier systems (bollards, wedges, and hydraulic gates) are operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on vehicle barrier systems.
- Troubleshoot and respond to emergency service calls to restore barrier operation.
- Follow detailed PM checklists, including:
- Inspecting/replacing oil filters, seals, and hydraulic lines
- Testing accumulator and system pressure
- Cleaning tanks, inspecting control panels, verifying electrical function
- Checking for leaks, worn components, or structural issues
- Cycling barriers to verify smooth, complete operation
- Ensure all work follows site-specific safety protocols.
- Communicate clearly with supervisor and team regarding job status and findings.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and follow technical maintenance checklists
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active traffic areas
- Able to lift 50 lbs, and use hand/power tools safely
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Experience with vehicle barrier systems or hydraulic equipment
- Familiarity with Delta Scientific, Nasatka, or similar manufacturers
- Welding, fabrication, or electrical troubleshooting skills
Pay:
- Rate: $32.08/hr
- Health & Welfare of $4.93 an hour up to 40 hours per week (Monies intended to pay for benefits, any unused dollars are attributed to your paycheck)
