Senior Payroll Officer

Randstad is working on an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join an established global organisation to run the payroll department and manage a payroll administrator.
You will report to the Finance Manager and support the finance and HR divisions as well as the wider business. You will drive success in the payroll department and lead/contribute to payroll-related projects. Experience with process improvement and having an open mindset, where you are comfortable operating in a change environment, would be suited to this role.
You will be processing payroll for approximately 700 staff on a monthly basis. Experience working across payroll systems would be beneficial, especially Employment Hero.
This role is located in Sydney CBD and offers hybrid working from the office and home. Salary offering $110,000 - $120,000 + super. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility to extend or be made permanent.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Oversee and manage payroll processing across the ANZ region, as well as processing for other small international payrolls - approximately 700-800 staff.
- Process end-to-end payroll including deductions, allowances, and expenses.
- Manage payroll journals and coordinate end-of-month and end-of-year payroll processes.
- Submit reports for Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and PAYG lodgements, etc.
- Ensure adherence to local and international employment laws and regulations.
- Coach and mentor the Payroll Administrator within the team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in related payroll projects.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- End-to-end payroll processing experience; processing international payroll is a benefit.
- Exposure to Australian and New Zealand payroll is beneficial.
- Ideally have some payroll leadership experience.
- Preferably worked with the Employment Hero system.
- Knowledge of local employment/payroll legislation and ability to interpret awards.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
