St Dominic’s is a welcoming community of Catholic Christians who have an outward focus on evangelization and social justice. The Parish celebrated its centenary in 2024 and has been in the care of the Dominican friars from the beginning.
Reporting to the Parish Priest, the Parish Manager coordinates the building maintenance, projects, stewardship programmes, and maintains the safeguarding records of the Parish. Working closely with the heritage architect, contractors, and volunteers, the Parish Manager works to grow the Parish in faith and number by attending to the good order of accessible spaces and safeguarding records.
There is an opportunity for an experienced Permanent Part Time Parish Manager at St. Dominic’s Parish, Camberwell East. The role of the Parish Manager will be to build solid relationships and work collaboratively to provide support to the Parish Team and parish volunteers. The role is required to work 21 hours per week. The successful applicant will work with the Parish Priest and volunteers. Terms and conditions are governed by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Key Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated active and passionate commitment to the evangelizing mission and values of the Catholic Church.
- Familiarity with heritage building maintenance and Victoria/CAM safeguarding requirements.
- Excellent administration and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and pastoral sensitivity.
- Strong on initiative and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong PC and IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated commitment to service and a willingness to be accountable for performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Maintain strong relationships with Parish Priest, Finance Committee Chair, Safeguarding Committee Chair, Dominican Fathers Bursary and Parish Staff as well as the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne, the Heritage Architect and the Parish accountant, when required.
- Coordinate maintenance and safety compliance for Church and Parish Centre facilities, oversee repairs, supplier engagement, and site access management.
- Oversee stewardship contributions and fundraising programs, manage monthly reporting and donor communications, and support volunteer counters as needed.
- Manage financial records and reporting, oversee credit card contributions, verify event payments, and maintain contractor compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Safeguarding protocols by managing visitor access, maintaining clergy and volunteer records, supporting inductions, and conducting annual audits with both Church and Government requirements.
- Management of the Parish Office including all filing and providing Secretarial and Clerical assistance to the Parish Priest across a range of areas.
- Ensure Parish IT operations are effective and efficient and to assist in the review and ongoing implementation of PACEM and IT systems.
- Oversee major projects as required from time to time.
- Other duties as directed by the Parish Priest.

- Annual acknowledgement of the expectations and responsibilities outlined in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct.
- Successful completion of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’s Safeguarding Essentials online training module annually.
