ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a pivotal in‑office role where you’ll act as the Supervisory Agent, maintaining the company’s Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) registration and ensuring the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and quality. You’ll oversee the delivery of tax agent services, guide and mentor staff, implement quality assurance frameworks, and manage TPB audit readiness. This hands‑on leadership role combines governance with commercial agility – ideal for a compliance‑minded Tax Agent who thrives in a fast‑paced, start‑up environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee all tax agent services under the company’s TPB registration, ensuring full compliance.

- Establish, document, and maintain robust quality control systems across tax operations.

- Supervise, mentor, and train a small team of 2.

- Conduct regular reviews, spot checks, and audits to uphold accuracy, integrity, and ethical standards.

- Manage risk and compliance frameworks to support sustainable business growth.

- Collaborate cross‑functionally to implement compliance processes suited for a start‑up.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Current individual registration as a Tax Agent with the TPB (or working towards).

- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Law (meeting TPB educational requirements).

- Completed Board‑approved courses in Australian Taxation Law and Commercial Law.

- Minimum 12 months of relevant full‑time experience in providing tax agent services.

- 5 years’ experience working in the tax industry.

- Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and ensure compliance within tax operations.

- Strong understanding of tax law, ethics, and professional conduct standards.

- Excellent documentation, communication, and leadership skills.

- Commercial mindset suited to a scaling start‑up environment.
