What’s the role?
This role drives the evolution of low‑latency trading systems, market‑making tools, and real‑time analytics. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of quants, traders, and analysts to build scalable, high‑performance backend solutions for global electronic execution and pricing.
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our FX trading technology. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll lead by example—driving innovation, mentoring peers, and delivering resilient systems that support global trading strategies.
You’ll design and build backend components for FX platforms, focusing on smart order routing, price discovery, and algorithmic execution. Using Java (Spring Boot) in a Linux environment, you’ll develop microservices, integrate with messaging systems like Aeron or Chronicle, and collaborate with front‑end engineers. You’ll also optimise for low‑latency performance, contribute to architecture decisions, and support production systems during trading hours. Your responsibilities will include participating in code reviews, testing, deployment, and providing third‑line support to resolve production issues.
What do I need?
- Strong Core Java skills, with expertise in multithreading and network programming; C++ experience is valued.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with FIX protocol and financial messaging systems.
- Experience with distributed systems and event‑driven architectures.
- Proven ability to collaborate directly with trading and quantitative teams.
- Background in financial systems development, particularly in FX or Fixed Income.
- Experience with platforms like KDB/Q, ION, or similar is highly regarded.
