About the team
Our Brisbane Planning & Environment team sits within a national practice group that acts for a vast range of clients in advisory and litigious matters across planning, environment, infrastructure and cultural heritage. The team works with clients across both the private and public sectors (local, state and federal). The team is led by Wendy Evans, recognised as one of the state's leading planning lawyers. With a background as a qualified town planner and as an expert Court witness, alongside her position as Fellow, Queensland Board Director and National Vice-President of the Planning Institute of Australia, Wendy is passionate about this area of practice.
About the role
We are looking for a Brisbane-based lawyer with 3-4 years of post-admission experience in planning and environment. Alongside Wendy and our SC (Nicole Besgrove) you will play a key role in the team and receive excellent mentoring from two of the market’s leading lawyers. Joining the team you can expect exposure to:
- development strategy work
- infrastructure, environmental and cultural heritage work
- statutory planning tasks
- planning and environment court work
About you
You will want to be part of what we intend to be, the pre-eminent planning and environment practice in Queensland. The opportunity is to join our leading, but presently small and close-knit team, to help grow and shape the practice. You will need a genuine passion for this area of law and an openness to challenge and growth. You will enjoy working across multiple matters, both front and back end, with senior lawyers who will provide mentoring at this key stage of your career. Your experience will have been gained from a well-regarded planning and environment team (private practice or government) with exposure to planning and/or environment matters. If you haven’t done Court work already, you will need to be interested in doing so. You will be self-motivated with a healthy amount of drive; efficiency, integrity, collaboration and excellence will form part of your values.
