About the role
Fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing and supportive team and further your career with Sydney Water This role is responsible for delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for our portfolio of infrastructure projects. The focus is on project work, but the role also provides technical support for the strategic and operational business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Technical and Environmental Expertise: Apply your technical knowledge and judgement to balance cost, risk, and outcomes - ensuring environmental assessments and approvals meet legislative requirements, stakeholder expectations, and environmental outcomes.
- Environmental Assessment and Approvals Delivery: Determine appropriate approval pathways, follow established procedures to prepare EIAs aligned with statutory and industry standards, and support the acquisition of environmental permits. Provide technical advice and use enterprise knowledge to enable efficient project delivery.
- Commercial and Legal Responsibilities: Engage professional services within procurement guidelines, respond to relevant legislation with guidance from senior staff, and remain flexible to support additional projects and duties as required by Sydney Water.
About You:
In addition to a Degree or other Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science / Planning/ Management (or another relevant discipline) and a driver's licence we are looking for:
- At least 3 years’ relevant industry experience, e.g., with an environmental or engineering consultancy, utilities, or infrastructure provider
- Demonstrated experience in environmental planning, environmental impact assessment, and environmental approvals for infrastructure assets
- Applied knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and current environmental issues
- Experience delivering environmental assessments and approvals considering risk, cost, and performance drivers
- Ability to work well in a team and develop effective working relationships
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
