The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Spray Painter to join the team at Wales Truck Repairs
As an Apprentice Spray Painter, you will work under the guidance of experienced Spray Painters to learn the skills and techniques required to produce high quality finishes on heavy vehicles.
Role responsibilities
As an Apprentice Spray Painter at Wales Truck Repairs, you will learn:
- Cleaning, sanding, and masking vehicle surfaces to prepare it for paint
- Mixing and matching paint colours to accurately match desired colour
- Using spray guns and other equipment to apply paint evenly and smoothly onto vehicle surfaces
- Applying primers and sealers to promote paint adhesion, prevent rust, and create a solid foundation for the topcoat
- Applying multiple layers of paint, including basecoat, clearcoat, and other specialised coatings
- Skilfully blending new paint into existing areas
- Performing detailed touch-ups to correct imperfections
- Creating special textures, patterns, or effects using different techniques
- Monitoring and controlling drying and curing processes
- Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws
- Adhering to safety protocols, using proper ventilation, protective gear, and ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and others.
You will be required to:
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate PPE is worn at all times
- Handle all company tools and equipment with due care and attention ensuring they remain safe, clean and in a workable condition
- Complete all course theory work by the due date as required
