An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inclusive Education Teacher to join our Junior School, commencing early Term 2. This role as an Inclusive Education Teacher at TKS is to provide high quality learning support across our Junior School (Prep - 6). The teacher is accountable for student support, recognition of individual student learning styles and assistance with modifications and adjustments to learning and assessment programs. The successful candidate must hold current VIT registration.

About the role:

1. Work closely with the Head of Personalised Learning- Diversity and Inclusion to deliver holistic learning support for appropriate primary students at TKS.
2. Foster an inclusive, stimulating and engaging learning environment, where all students feel valued and respected.
3. Provide individual and small group instruction (may include promoting literacy/numeracy/executive functioning skills - point of need) under the guidance of the Head of Personalised Learning – Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with Head of Junior School, Heads of Departments and classroom teachers.
4. Utilise both external and internal data, alongside education assessments, to identify students' needs and monitor their progress to inform ongoing and future strategies.
5. Assist in the development of individual learning plans (ILPs) for neurodiverse students and those with disabilities who have specific learning needs.
6. Conduct parent/guardian meetings including SSGs to discuss student support and ILPs, fostering a collaborative partnership to support student learning.
7. Support the Head of Personalised Learning- Inclusion and diversity by collecting, monitoring and analysing data for NCCD and the organisation of special provisions for students during standardized testing e.g., NAPLAN, AAS.
8. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a holistic and supportive learning environment for all students.
9. Work in partnership with external professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists to support students' overall development.
10. Commit to personal professional learning and continuous improvement by engaging in ongoing professional development and latest research in best teaching practice.
11. Assist in upskilling staff in evidence-based inclusive practices and build capacity in this area.

The ideal candidate:

1. Demonstrate a genuine passion for, and commitment to, inclusive education and a proven record of high-performance teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
2. Ideally hold a Master in Inclusive Education, Special Education or Learning Intervention (or qualifications to that effect). Experience in implementing, monitoring and analysing evidence-based interventions either in Primary or Secondary school will also be considered.
3. Hold a current VIT registration.
4. Understand and have experience in the NCCD-process collection, reporting and analysis of data.
5. Have experience in the organisation and support of special provisions.
6. Understand literacy and numeracy development across various curriculum areas, reflecting best practice.
7. Be proficient in utilising assessments and data to inform teaching practices.
8. Have knowledge and understanding of the School's obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.
9. Have working knowledge of and be able to adhere to the School's policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here.
10. Satisfactorily complete a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young people's rights are respected.
11. Display a supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and build positive connections with all members of the school community.
12. Hold, or be prepared to obtain, a current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training. Training is provided by the school annually.
