The Position
Southern Adelaide Health Network (SALHN) seeks to appoint a collaborative and innovative senior executive to the position of Executive Director, Nursing & Midwifery (EDoNM) to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and compassionate care and clinical excellence.
The EDoNM is a critical executive role at SALHN with a broad and multifaceted portfolio focusing on professional leadership and governance, practice development, capability planning and delivery, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the EDoNM is accountable for the governance and practice standards of nurses and midwives, the development and effectiveness of innovative systems to support, evaluate and consistently improve nursing and midwifery practice and healthy work environments and the cost-effective and sustainable provision of contemporary health services within their span of control.
The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in best-practice nursing and midwifery, combined with a contemporary leadership and management approach. An ability to contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational objectives for the LHN is required along with the ability to articulate a vision and engage the nursing community. Success will be achieved through the development of strong, trusting relationships both internally and externally with stakeholders including government, the unions and the community. The ability to lead change through influence is essential, combined with an ability to empower the team and bring people along on the journey. The incoming Executive Director will bring a leadership style that is firm, data-driven, and able to move initiatives forward effectively. A genuine desire to integrate, and live and work with the Adelaide community over the medium to long term is essential. The appointee will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

The South Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) provides care for around 365,000 people living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide as well as providing a number of statewide services, and services to those in regional areas. Approximately 10,000 skilled staff provide high quality patient care, education, research and health promoting services. SALHN provides a range of acute and sub-acute health services for people of all ages.
