Job Description
Position objectives
This position is responsible for planning, preparing and safely conducting swimming lessons to the Swim and Survive standard and preparing lesson plans, as well as supervising and assisting the development of Swim Teacher training candidates and others who participate in the class.
Key responsibility areas
Plan, prepare and safely conduct swimming lessons to Swim and Survive standard, using a variety of instructional methods and styles.
Assess and report on participant readiness, progression and/or level attainment.
Supervise and assist in the development of Austswim or equivalent training candidates or other probationary employees who may participate in classes.
Deliver professional customer service to participants, parents/carers and other stakeholders.
Attend four mandatory staff meetings each calendar year, as directed by supervisors.
Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents’ skill, competence and training.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and experience
Current Austswim Swim Teacher of water safety; or equivalent.
Current Austswim Infant and Preschool; or equivalent (desirable)
Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
Selection criteria
Knowledge of Austswim Industry Guidelines.
Knowledge of swimming lesson philosophy and teaching guidelines.
Ability to adapt lesson classes to meet the learning needs and skill level of participants.
