THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Child Protection Practitioner to join our Intake Practice Team on an ongoing, full time basis, based in Dandenong.
In this role you will be responsible for supervising team members in daily tasks through a structured and supportive learning program in addition to managing a case load. You will work closely with the Team Manager to strengthen case practice and provide effective service delivery to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people.
Essential to your success will be a recognised Social Work or Welfare related qualification or equivalent, as well as a strong sense of social justice and an understanding that families are complex, with their own unique histories. The transportation of children is a requirement of this role, as such a valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including to country regions is essential. There may be a requirement to work overnight and travel in the evenings and early mornings. On occasions, additional hours may be required, including weekends to ensure the wellbeing of children.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Risk assessment and analysis: further develops and coaches others in their understanding of risk assessment and analysis
- Case planning review and case management: provides case planning advice, guidance and support to others; directly supports and inputs into cases where there is unacceptable risk to the child
- Critical inquiry: leads planning, review and management of issues in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements
- Developing others: facilitates staff coaching, mentoring and practice development and provides leadership; offers secondary consultation and live supervision
