Senior Service Delivery Advisor – Fixed Term/Full Time
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced librarian to lead the Languages and Multicultural Education Resource Centre (LMERC) as part of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) Unit from 22 December 2025 to 1 May 2026.
The LMERC Manager – Librarian leads a small team of one library technician at LMERC, a library managed by the department that specialises in providing resources in all formats for EAL, languages and cross‑curriculum priority areas.
Purpose: To manage all aspects of library operations including supervising staff, prioritising tasks, managing the budget, collecting usage statistics, contributing to internal reports, developing the collection, and assisting patrons to locate resources.
- Promote the library and relevant resources via in‑person or online presentations to teachers and pre‑service teachers.
- Write and disseminate a newsletter twice each term.
- Create libguides and maintain LMERC LearnPath guides (web‑based libguides).
- Manage the library management system.
The role also establishes and maintains productive stakeholder relationships with teacher associations and not‑for‑profit community organisations to share information and organise collaborative professional learning events.
Attendance: 5 days per week onsite at Carlton.
Reporting: The role reports to the Manager, English as an Additional Language Unit.
About the EAL Unit
The EAL Unit is part of the Statewide Programs and Tech Schools Division (SPaTS) within SEPS, focusing on ensuring schools access the programs and supports needed for all students, including those requiring additional support.
- Support all students to thrive in schools (e.g., Glasses for Kids).
- Provide program guidance and resources to support the transition from primary to secondary school.
- Help teachers deliver the curriculum internally and externally, via Tech Schools, STEM centres, School Sport Victoria, swimming programs, State Schools Spectacular, Strategic Partnerships Program, and English as an Additional Language resources.
- Support priority cohorts such as CALD, refugee, rural and regional students.
