Responsibilities

- Support Youth Justice custodial staff with proactive strategies to promote psychological wellbeing and prevent work related stress
- Provide counselling, psychological first aid, critical incident stress debriefing and innovative wellbeing strategies
- Make sound clinical assessments where staff may require counselling or other supports to address personal or workplace issues.

The opportunity

- Flexible full or part time (0.8) position fixed term for 2 years, based at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct with travel to Parkville.
- VPS5 role earning $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus super.
- Deliver the staff wellbeing program, providing evidence-based clinical assessments and interventions for staff.

The Staff Wellbeing Program – Clinical Practitioner works with a culturally diverse staffing group, playing a critical role in supporting staff to maintain their own wellbeing by providing counselling, psychological first aid, critical incident stress debriefing and innovative wellbeing strategies, in line with the Youth Justice Custodial Services Staff Wellbeing Program. This position works exclusively with staff and does not provide services to the young people or go in to the units where the young people reside.

The position is based at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct though regular travel to the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct is required.

To be successful in this role, you will have

- Experience providing individual counselling and critical incident stress management, using evidence based clinical frameworks.
- Experience developing strategies to assist and manage the personal impact of work-related stress, vicarious trauma, anxiety, depression and workplace conflict.
- Experience delivering group training and coaching to improve the psychological wellbeing of staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to address own emotional and psychological development, continuously improve clinical skills and maintain contemporary knowledge of therapeutic skills and frameworks.
- A qualification in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent and eligibility for registration with the relevant practitioner regulation agency.

Experience in establishing relationships with individuals from a broad cross-section of multicultural backgrounds is desirable. Knowledge and experience in delivering Mindfulness Training and Mental Health First Aid accreditation is also desirable

A full driver's licence is required due to the need to be able to work flexibly across both custodial precincts, based on operational requirements.

A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
