Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Stake Australia Full time

Stake is looking for a Financial Operations Team Lead to join our Customer Success and Operations team, at our Sydney CBD HQ, with a flexible hybrid working model (3 days in the office, 2 WFH).

We’re an Australian investing platform that helps ambitious people confidently grow their wealth. By offering seamless, immersive access to the share markets, we’ve empowered a new wave of investors. Stake has grown fast from a fintech startup into a robust financial services company. Today we have 700,000+ customers and more than A$5 billion under administration.

At Stake, we break barriers in everything we do. Just like our customers, we’re driven by ambition. Our desire for continuous growth is what creates the collaborative and high-performance environment we work in. Though we’re spread around the world, we’re a unified team moving towards a shared vision: to unleash the investor in everyone.

Join us as we continue to reshape the financial industry, inspiring investor confidence and celebrating our wins along the way.

About this role

As the Financial Operations Team Lead, you will be responsible for optimising our end-to-end transaction processing workflows, driving efficiency through automation, and rapidly growing and mentoring a high-performing team to manage escalating volumes of financial movements. This role requires a leader who is both strategic and hands-on, capable of evolving our operational infrastructure while maintaining impeccable standards of accuracy, speed, and regulatory compliance.

Our Operations team at Stake spans Cash Operations, Trading Operations, KYC/AML and Stake Super across Australia and Brazil and you will be a key member of one of our main operations’ pillars. Stake is going through an exciting growth phase and this role will be instrumental in how we continue to uplift and refine our processes. Further responsibilities include:

- Drive and oversee the complete lifecycle of all financial transactions, including client fundings (deposits), withdrawals, and settlements across various payment rails and product lines.
- Proactively identify and resolve transaction failures, discrepancies, and reconciliation breaks, ensuring data integrity and financial accuracy.
- Effectively manage workload allocation and resource planning to meet operational demands during periods of high growth.
- Collaborate effectively with Customer Success, Finance, Compliance, Product and Engineering teams to ensure seamless financial flow and a cohesive client experience.
- Drive continuous improvement of our financial infrastructure by working hand-in-hand with Product and Technology teams, offering operational insights that directly shape enhancements to banking platforms, payment gateways, reconciliation tools, and core transaction processing systems
- Lead, coach, and empower a growing team of Operations Analysts, fostering a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement.

A bit about you

- 5+ years experience in Operations within a fintech payments/cash environment
- Highly adaptable, proactive and resilient, thriving in a fast-paced, evolving scale-up environment
- Strong analytical skills (SQL experience preferred), comfortable working with data to drive operational decisions, efficiencies, best practices and new ways of working
- Demonstrable experience and skills to break down complex issues into actionable roadmap items
- A solid track record of taking ownership and leading complex projects end-to-end
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous leadership experience with ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders across the business

At Stake, we’re more interested in your attitude than your resume. If you believe this is a role you want to jump into head first and be part of our mission, please apply and let us know why in your cover letter
