The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role for the Rotary Club of Kew, Fair Trade & Gift Shop.
Overview
Join the Fair Trade & Gift Shop team to promote ethical retail, fair trade principles, and sustainable practices in our community. This volunteer role supports customer service, merchandising, and education about fair trade and the circular economy.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers with a warm and friendly attitude, providing exceptional service and product knowledge.
- Engage customers in conversations about fair trade principles, the circular economy, and the positive impact of their purchases.
- Assist in visual merchandising, ensuring our products are displayed appealingly and educationally.
- Support inventory management, including restocking and maintaining product availability.
- Collaborate with the team to organise special events and workshops highlighting fair trade practices and sustainability.
- Contribute to creating a welcoming and informative shopping environment that reflects our values.
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for fair trade, sustainable practices, and the circular economy.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Friendly demeanour with a willingness to learn and engage with customers.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Prior retail experience is a plus but not required.
- Genuine passion for making a positive impact through your work.
