What You Will Be Doing

As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will report to the Hospital Collector Lead and work in a team across wards including Paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation, delivering great customer service and quality healthcare. You will use your exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to liaise with doctors, nurses and patients to understand needs and requirements of the environment and patient.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Liaising & building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders within the hospital including doctors, nurses and patients
- Advanced Pathology Collection – Collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across different wards & areas including Paediatrics, difficult bleeds and AGBs with care and attention
- Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Pathology Collector. You could currently work in a hospital or a clinic and are looking to diversify and grow your career. You could also be a Registered Nurse looking to swap overnight work for regular daytime shifts. You will be a great communicator and relationship builder, professional and proactive with stakeholders in the hospital, and you will go above and beyond to provide quality patient care.

These are the type of attributes & skills you would possess:

- A demonstrated experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a nursing background
- Excellent liaison and communication skills, with a high level of empathy & a patient-centred approach
- You are organised, with high attention to detail
- You hold a Working with Children’s Check or are willing to obtain one
- You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
- Vaccine-preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
- Other vaccinations based on location may be required / setting
