With the Cumberland Ecology recently joining us, our team in Sydney is now looking for a recently graduated or early-career ecologist with a couple years' experience to work with the wider Ecology & Biodiversity team across New South Wales and Australia.

Key Responsibilities
You will have a true love for the outdoors and about to start or have commenced your career in ecology and a positive attitude to do the following tasks:

1. Apply your knowledge of NSW flora and fauna to assist senior ecologists providing advice to clients, both in office and in field
2. Participate in field survey programs to collect a variety of different ecological data
3. Support interpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across a variety of different sectors under the guidance of more senior staff
4. Assisting in preparing tenders and proposals, including development of budgets and resourcing plans
5. Support the team in studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies, including but not limited to Biodiversity Assessment Reports in accordance with the Biodiversity Assessment Method
6. Travel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programs

Skills and experience
The successful candidate must have:

1. An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field
2. Working knowledge of NSW flora and fauna
3. Scientific or consulting report writing and computer skills

It is desirable the candidate has:

1. 1-2+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production
2. Experience in flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs
3. Flora and fauna identification skills
4. Knowledge of and training in the Biodiversity Assessment Method
5. Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
6. Project management experience in relation to client management and budget control
