We are seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Melbourne team.

The Technical Playground

Core Stack: Node.js, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, AWS services including Lambda, PHP

External Integration: Healthcare APIs, Payment providers

Architecture Journey: Migrating from monolith to microservices

Scale Challenges: Handling traffic spikes and steady-state operations

AI Integration: Personalization, chatbots, automation

Global Reach: Systems supporting 19 countries with different languages, currencies, and regulations

For this role you'll need:

- 8+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years in senior/lead roles
- 5+ years' experience with full-stack development, including Node.js, React, JavaScript, TypeScript

- Proven experience with high-traffic web platforms and large-scale, high-availability systems
- Strong background in AWS cloud platform and infrastructure as code (CloudFormation or serverless)
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems using AWS Lambda
- Deep understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident response
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, AWS CodePipeline
- Experience with payment processing and PCI DSS compliance
- DevOps practices and tooling expertise
- Strong CSS skills and frameworks like Bootstrap, SASS, LESS
- Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs
- Testing frameworks knowledge
- Agile development experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Leadership experience during critical incidents and high-pressure situations

Desirable:

- Advanced prompt engineering and AI system architecture
- Experience with AI/ML implementation and personalization
- Headless CMS knowledge
- Experience with Angular, Vue, or other front-end frameworks
- UI component libraries management
- CDN strategies for global reach
- Security architecture and threat modelling
- Knowledge of zero-trust security principles
- Healthcare domain experience (bonus if you've saved lives with code)
- Experience in building shared outcomes in new teams
- Quantum-resistant cryptography exposure
- Technical ROI assessment experience
- Off-shore team collaboration experience
