About the service

The Transitional Recovery Program supports adults leaving acute mental health services to build independence, prevent hospital readmission, and thrive in the community. In a homelike setting with 24/7 staff, we provide tailored one-to-one support, shared activities, and group programs, all built around each person’s strengths and goals.

About the role

We are seeking self-motivated, empathetic Peer Practitioners for fixed-term, part-time and full-time opportunities to join our new Transitional Recovery program in Rockhampton and Yeppoon. As a Peer Practitioner, you will draw on your lived experience of mental health and/or AOD challenges to:

- Build connections, share hope, and walk alongside people on their recovery journey.
- Deliver high-quality services tailored to the needs of each person.
- Provide individual and group support that empowers people to achieve their goals.
- Help people connect with family, carers, and community supports.
- Actively contribute to co-design and continuous service improvement.

This role requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.

What you’ll bring

- Lived or living experience of mental health and/or AOD challenges, and a desire to use this to support others.
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required.
- Previous experience in a peer role is highly desirable.
- Empathy, resilience, and commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused support.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
