Job Description

About the Opportunity

This position is ideal for someone with an educational background in accounting or bookkeeping, a strong aptitude for numbers, and an interest in building a career in insurance. You will join Interruption Underwriting Agencies (IUA), a specialist within the Steadfast Underwriting Agencies Group, focusing on Business Interruption Insurance.

As an Assistant Underwriter, you will support underwriting operations and broker relationships, contributing to a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

- Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements within your authority level following company procedures.
- Prepare premium quotations aligned with prescribed rate increases and applicable excesses.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams, brokers, and strategic partners.
- Maintain and develop strong broker relationships.
- Assist with underwriting queries and documentation.
- Support team initiatives for positive culture and continuous improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

- Strong numerical skills; background in accounting or bookkeeping preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Proactive, goal-oriented working style with strong initiative.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and adapt to change.
- Highly organized with good time management skills.
- Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.
