Description: Based in Sydney/Melbourne, you will join a team working to expand Aurora's electricity grid modelling capability across the Asia-Pacific region. You will lead consulting engagements, quantitatively analysing energy markets and transmission systems, and convey insights to enhance clients' decision-making. You will be involved in all aspects of client engagement: identifying issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesising conclusions into recommendations. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with leadership skills and a proven track record in team environments. This role offers autonomy, opportunities to influence major decisions in the energy sector, and professional growth under experienced directors at a leading electricity market modelling firm. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a technical role within the power sector, and hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields such as Physics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct research and modelling of high-voltage transmission systems across the APAC region to support energy transition analysis.

2. Engage with clients during consulting projects, performing power-flow analysis and developing rigorous quantitative reports to aid decision-making.

3. Collaborate with the modelling team to quantify electrical engineering challenges and interpret model results.

4. Contribute to product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding capabilities.

5. Communicate findings effectively to clients.

Required Attributes

1. 2-4 years of experience in a technical role within the power sector.

2. First-class or high second-class degree from a top university in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.

3. Experience in project and process management within team environments.

4. Ability to analyze and interpret complex quantitative data.

5. Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

6. Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to grow the business.

Desirable Attributes

1. Experience with network/grid modelling, e.g., with transmission companies or renewables developers.

2. Skills in data analytics tools such as Python, R, Matlab, Excel, GAMS.

3. Leadership or mentoring experience.

4. Knowledge of power-flow modelling and interpreting single-line diagrams.

5. Proficiency in additional languages, especially Korean, Japanese, or other APAC languages.
