About the Role
Brisbane Girls Grammar School is inviting applications for the position of Cello Teacher for 2026. This role is available on a part-time (0.200 FTE) basis.
In collaboration with the Director of Instrumental Music and the Coordinators, Instrumental Music Teachers are responsible for delivering various components of the Instrumental Music Program. They actively engage, motivate, and inspire student musicians to help them reach their full potential.
The Instrumental Music Program includes directing large ensembles outside of the School’s regular timetabled hours, as well as providing small group tuition during scheduled class times.
Your responsibilities will include:
- directing ensembles and all associated tasks
- incorporating music technology to enhance learning and student motivation in rehearsals
- selecting and/or assisting in the selection of suitable and challenging repertoire
- preparing students for competitions and semester performances
- designing and implementing a specific and sequenced program of instruction for each ensemble
- choosing suitable and challenging repertoire that reflects the performance goals of each student
- designing and implementing an appropriately sequenced learning program for small group tuition, reflecting current pedagogical practice and individual playing standards linked to ensemble repertoire
You will also have:
- relevant tertiary degree, and teaching qualifications
- proven ability to understand diverse students’ learning styles, demonstrating effective teaching outcomes
- demonstrated ability to apply relevant theory and research relating to girls’ education
- excellent technological literacy
- the ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a high-performing school culture
- a current Queensland College of Teachers registration or the ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
