The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) team at John Hunter Hospital is a dynamic group of multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to supporting people with neuro‑immunological diseases. Led by Professor Jeannette Lechner‑Scott, the team operates across John Hunter Hospital and the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), delivering excellence in both clinical care and cutting‑edge research.

Our Clinical Trials Group is currently involved in several Phase 2 to 4 international pharmaceutical trials and national collaborative research projects supported by MRFF and industry funding.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This part‑time position (16 hours per week – with option to add some additional hours) plays an integral role in delivering high‑quality clinical trial services to patients and research partners.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating patient visits and ensuring the conduct of trials aligns with Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Study assessments (feasibilities, contract and budget negotiations)

Study start‑up including ethics, governance, contracts, and CTMS setup

Participant recruitment, visit coordination, and data management

Specimen management and liaison with monitors, sponsors, and investigators

Supporting other trial coordinators and assisting with general research activities

Providing mentorship and contributing to workflow and compliance improvements

You’ll receive comprehensive support from a team of senior coordinators and researchers, with access to on‑the‑job and online training, as well as professional development opportunities – including attendance at domestic conferences (subject to funding).

You’re an organised and detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, research‑focused environment.

You’ll bring:

- Demonstrated clinical trials experience

- Strong understanding of GCP and research ethics

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Sound organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving ability

- Confidence working across multiple projects and stakeholders

- Clear and professional communication

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team

- Proactiveness and initiative within the role

- Proficient and responsive computer literacy ability. An understanding of, or willingness and ability to learn, NSW Health and HNE Health applications and systems is desirable.
