Our accident and emergency department nurses are supported by our medical teams to be able to make quick and skilled clinical decisions fostering a strong alliance between doctors and nurses.The Clinical Nurse acts as a responsible and effective team member and leader, assists in the overall clinical management of the Unit, is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care.Participates in direct patient care and assists the Nurse Manager with supervision and management duties ensuring all ward activities are in accordance with the ongoing Mission, Philosophy and Values of the St John of God Health Care and objectives of the Nursing Division.**The Position*** Supervises nursing practice and takes responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.* Acts a clinical resource, maintains and develops clinical skills relevant to area of practice.* Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.* Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.* Ensures documentation meets hospital standards and legal requirements.* Is aware of and works in accordance with SGJHC policies and procedures, including Equal Employment Opportunity, Confidentiality and Privacy.* Coordinates the department effectively ensuring continuity of care, and takes action on problems encountered.* Participates in the performance management of caregivers in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.* Supervises the practice of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.* Encourages the development of relationships with all hospital and visiting staff, which promote a harmonious working environment.**Selection Criteria*** Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse / Midwife* Significant recent post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level.* Knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice.* Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate to the team.* Ability to plan, assess and develop team and individual performance.* Effective communication skills, demonstrate and support professional accountability.* Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to effectively engage with a range of senior and operational stakeholders.* Ability to identify and solve problems, including conflict resolution.* Commitment to lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives including but not limited to patient safety, care standards and operational efficiency.* Knowledge of relevant contemporary computer information systems.* Ability to educate, support and mentor patients, family and caregivers.* Demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development. **The Benefits*** Salary: **$104,903 to $110,954 pro rata for part time**, plus 12% superannuation* A permanent part time position, working 70 hours per fortnight* Discounts on hospital services & private health insurance* Salary packaging up to **$18,550** on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as: + Novated leasing + work related expenses + self-education and + additional superannuation* Free on-site parking* Access to fitness and wellbeing benefits through Fitness Passport* Innovative Professional Development opportunities* A healthy work-life balance through flexible work options, additional purchased leave & well-being programs***All applicants are asked to submit a covering letter (of no more than three (3) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above selection criteria****For enquiries contact Shaun Richardson, Nurse Unit Manager on (08)9462 4242.*If suitable applicants are identified advertisement may close prior to listed date and screening/interviews may commence throughout the advertising process.*At St John of God Health Care, we celebrate diversity and warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.**Our commitment is to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children and vulnerable individuals in our care and proactively take steps to protect them from abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being.**Our inclusive culture fosters an environment that is respectful and secure, welcoming and accessible, and unified through our diverse community.*At St John of God Health Care we support you to be the best health care professional or support worker you can be.
