AC Australian Centre Mechanical Engineering Technician

The candidate must have a Diploma or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least one year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

- In the capacity of a Mechanical Engineering Technician, support engineering and manufacturing operations with a broad range of technical and coordination tasks.
- Technical Documentation and Design Interpretation: develop, review, and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications to facilitate precision machining and fabrication workflows.
- Collaborate with design engineers to clarify drawing requirements and ensure the manufacturability of components.
- Prepare cost estimates and technical quotations for machining and fabrication projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
- Workshop Support and Resource Coordination: assist engineering teams in identifying and sourcing suitable tools, machinery, and raw materials tailored to specific project needs.
- Provide input on tooling setups and fabrication methods to optimise efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support engineers with documentation, project scheduling, and resource coordination across machining operations.
- Production Oversight and Scheduling: coordinate daily workshop activities and align production schedules with client delivery timelines.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Monitor and coordinate client job orders, ensuring production aligns with technical drawings and engineering requirements.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined parts using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
- Verify that finished components meet design tolerances, safety standards, and quality benchmarks.
- Data Collection and Process Analysis: gather operational data from CNC machines and other production equipment to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to engineering staff to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assembly and System Integration: assist in the mechanical assembly, installation, and functional testing of components and systems, ensuring proper alignment and operation.
- Support troubleshooting efforts during prototype development and final commissioning phases.
