The Role
This is a newly created role as a Paralegal where you will support a Legal Counsel and Team of a not for profit organisation. You will manage and support the legal team across Civil and Institutional Abuse Claims.
Responsibilities
- Assist with intake, triage, and file management for civil claims and National Redress Scheme (NRS) matters (Institutional Abuse Claims)
- Track procedural dates, mediation's, court timetables, and compulsory conferences
- Draft routine correspondence and prepare conflict checks, instruction letters, briefs, and fee estimates
- Collect, collate, and organise evidence including records, statements, and expert materials
- Coordinate responses to subpoenas, privacy requests, and manage disclosure processes
- Maintain accurate matter data, tasks, and diaries in LawVu; support workflow and reporting improvements
- Conduct legal research, monitor case law and legislation, and assist with drafting policies and guidance
- Manage electronic filing, data entry, and provide general administrative support for legal projects
Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Paralegal in Personal Injury or Litigation
- Strong knowledge of PIPA and UCPR processes
- Ideally, a Cert IV or Diploma in Legal Services (but not essential)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
