School Description
Trangie Central School is an inclusive K-12 school with a student population of 172 students, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our school is located amongst the cotton and wheat fields, 72km west of the major NSW regional centre of Dubbo. 48% of our students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The staff, students and community have high expectations for academic attainment and foster a culture of acceptance, tolerance and kindness. The school's wellbeing structures are underpinned by positive value expectations to be a safe, respectful learner. We strive to offer opportunities for each student to excel. The focus on quality teaching and learning has led to a strong culture of high expectations for learning. We strive to run strong transition to school and work programs, providing links between the school, students and families to build successful partnerships throughout the student's entire school lives. Strong community connections are integral to all that we do. We have a strong working relationship with our P&C, the Local Aboriginal Lands Council and community organisations. The school is committed to continuously improving effective high level classroom practice by developing efficient and common systems across the school which promote collaboration, grow innovation and promote a growth mindset. We are also committed to building closer networks with a broad range of post-school pathways for students as well as building links with external well-being support services to ensure students are connected to our community. The school is committed to lifting student achievement in literacy, numeracy and the general capabilities framework skills needed for post-school success.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Year 7-10 Science and Stage 6 Biology, with willingness to teach hemistry
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff and parents to improve student learning outcomes
- Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and contribute to differentiated teaching and learning programs to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students
- Ability to initiate innovative programs, such as STEM and enrichment programs, that are inclusive of a Central School environment
- Commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
