Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Primary Care Nurse to join the Primary Care team at HMP Sudbury, a category D prison, located in Ashbourne, East Midlands. HMP Sudbury is an adult male prison with a population of 661. You will be based in a team of 10 within the Primary Care Team in the main healthcare department at HMP Sudbury.

Hours

This role is part time 18.5 hours per week, Monday - Sunday:

- Monday - Friday: 7.30am – 6.00pm (8.0pm finish on a Thursday)
- Saturday - Sunday: 7.30am – 5.00pm
- There is an expectation to work 1 in 3 weekends.

Salary

Your annual salary is between £33,232 - £40,211 FTE, pro rota to 16 hours per week depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, respond to emergencies, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
- Deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group with support from a multi-disciplinary team
- Provide outstanding evidence-based care tailored to what matters to patients
- Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
- Forging strong links with partners and stakeholders to inspire excellence
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement
- Share knowledge and expertise to ensure safe care within strong multi-disciplinary teams

Qualifications and experience

Qualifications required:

- Registered nurse – Adult
- Current professional qualification (NMC)
- Evidence of continued Professional Development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- A non-judgemental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
