AMPYR Australia is currently constructing its first major project, the Wellington 1 BESS (W1) in New South Wales, which will be among the country's largest grid-scale storage assets. Alongside project development, AMPYR is pioneering an innovative First Nations equity partnership model, ensuring that Traditional Owners share directly in the long-term benefits of clean energy infrastructure.

Primary Focus

Leadership of transactions, investor negotiations, team oversight, and platform strategy

Role Purpose

- Lead origination, structuring and execution of investments with a focus on:

- Capital transaction negotiation and execution (project finance, capital raising, M&A)

- Financial modelling oversight – first call for Associate support and model problem-solving

- Construction-stage investment oversight

- Platform strategy and governance

Key Responsibilities:

Investment & Transactions

- Act as first point of modelling expertise for the team; troubleshoot, refine and validate models built by Associates
- Lead execution of project finance, capital, and M&A transactions, including term sheet and documentation negotiations
- Drive transaction deliverables for IC and Board approval
- Lead investor and lender negotiations for project and platform-level capital transactions
- Manage relationships with institutional investors and advisors
- Represent AMPYR externally in forums and counterpart discussions

Strategic Development

- Lead evaluation of M&A, partnerships and JV opportunities
- Contribute to platform strategy and scalable funding models
- Develop investment criteria, governance and risk frameworks
- Provide senior oversight of construction-stage assets and financing compliance
- Monitor portfolio performance and risk at senior level
- Align commercial/financial outcomes with project delivery teams

Project Development

- Manage workflow and provide senior oversight for Associate's Project Development tasks
- Guide structuring of Joint Development Agreements
- Oversee analysis of offtake and revenue contracts
- Exceptional financial modelling and structuring skills – capable of independently building and resolving complex models, as well as coaching/mentoring juniors
- Strong BESS and infra market knowledge
- Proven leadership and mentoring ability
- Strong presence in external negotiations

Qualifications & Experience

- Degree in Finance/Econ/Eng
- Demonstrated mastery of financial modelling for internally developed projects, project finance, and platform transactions
- Significant experience in capital raising and transaction execution
- Construction oversight exposure (desirable)
- Strategic thinker balancing execution & long-term value
