We’re seeking an experienced Groundsman to join our team at Saints Catholic College.
The role supports the Maintenance Supervisor across our residential facility, with duties including:
1. General grounds upkeep, landscaping, irrigation installation and repairs.
2. Support with repairs in rooms, preventative maintenance and projects during academic breaks.
3. Develop and deliver propagation systems, summer and winter gardening programs including pruning and feeding programming.
4. General maintenance over the course of the academic year.
What you’ll need:
1. Experience in gardening/landscape/grounds maintenance, including:
a) Knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and safe work practices.
b) Experience in propagation of Australian native plants.
2. An in depth understanding of plant positioning and effective use of shade and space.
3. An in depth understanding of plant maintenance including pruning and feed cycles.
4. Horticultural certifications preferred, not required.
5. Handyman skills an advantage.
6. Current Open driver’s license.
About You
You will have a positively charged character and are a person who is in alignment with SCC mission, vision and values. Selection Criteria:
1. recent and significant experience in a similar role.
2. Proven organisational skills.
3. Proven ability to manage competing tasks.
4. Must be competent to work autonomously and have sound judgement and decision-making skills.
5. Must be creative, innovative and be outcome focused.
6. Experience in collegiate environment and/or education is not a necessity but is an advantage.
7. Must have an eye for detail and hold a high bar for quality and aesthetics of works performed.
Requirements:
1. Availability and willingness to work outside standard hours as reasonable required.
2. Must have, or be able to obtain, a Positive Working With Children and Vulnerable Adults Check (Blue Card).
3. Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain or update).
