At Visy, we love solving problems. And that’s something we do better working together. We’re looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team at VP8 Gibson Island, leading people and driving performance in our paper manufacturing operations.

The Opportunity

As Shift Supervisor, you will lead and mentor a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on production, safety, quality and continuous improvement. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining production targets, managing day-to-day plant operations, and supporting operational excellence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor and develop shift personnel to achieve production targets.

- Provide technical support, troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvement.

- Participate in root cause analysis to address risks and recurring issues.

- Oversee safe, efficient operation of paper machinery and associated equipment.

- Monitor and optimise equipment performance to minimise downtime.Support stock control (machine parts) and accurate reporting.

- Analyse production data to identify and implement improvements.

- Maintain high standards in safety, quality, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or manufacturing disciplines.

- Strong process knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing.

- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.

- Sound planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.

- Demonstrated behaviours that contribute to constructive teamwork.

- Ability to work autonomously and take accountability.

- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport.

- Understanding of Six Sigma principles.

- Experience with RCA techniques (5 Whys, Ishikawa, Cause Mapping, etc.).
