The mission of Speechify is to make sure that reading is never a barrier to learning.
Speechify’s text-to-speech products help over 50 million people turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio so they can read faster, read more, and remember more. Our products include the iOS app, Android app, Mac app, Chrome extension, and Web app. Speechify has been recognized by Google as the Chrome Extension of the Year and by Apple as App of the Day.
Today, nearly 200 people work globally in a distributed setting—Speechify has no office. Our team includes frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and others from major tech companies and top universities.
What you’ll do
With the growth of our iOS app, we are seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to support the new user base and work on exciting projects to push our product forward. This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, makes product decisions, and has experience building great user experiences.
We are a flat organization that values leadership through demonstrated technical excellence and consistent, fast delivery. Strong work ethic, solid communication, and a drive to win are essential. Our interview process involves several technical interviews and aims to be completed within one week.
Responsibilities
- Opportunity to lead key engineering and product decisions
- Actively shipping production code for the Speechify iOS app
- Work within a dedicated product team
- Participate in product discussions to shape the product roadmap
- Maintain and enhance the existing complex app architecture
An Ideal Candidate Should Have
- Experience on products that scaled to a large user base
- Track record of contributing to products from inception to traction and owning the engineering of the product
- Customer obsession and a commitment to delivering the best possible experience
- Product thinking and ability to support internal teams and designers
- Speed and judgment to ship now and plan for the longer term
- Focus and ability to navigate a high-growth, remote team
- Technical skills: Swift, SwiftUI
Technical Requirements
- Swift Programming Language
- SwiftUI experience
- Experience in multithreading programming
- Experience with CI/CD infrastructure
- Experience with Fastlane
- Experience applying SOLID principles in object-oriented design
- Experience with Git and understanding of different Git strategies
