The Schools of Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and Medical Sciences (Faculty of Medicine and Health) invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in organoids and biomaterials. The successful candidate will be involved in interdisciplinary research at the interface of biomaterials engineering, regenerative medicine, and biosensors, under the supervision of Prof. Hala Zreiqat and A/Prof Khoon Lim.

This hands-on research role provides substantial intellectual freedom. In this role you will lead the development of advanced osteochondral organoid models, employing cutting-edge bioceramic 3D printing technologies for bone tissue fabrication and dynamic hydrogels for cartilage engineering. You will also integrate biosensor technologies for real-time monitoring of tissue development. Opportunities will include student supervision, industry collaboration, grant development, and initiating novel research directions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- conduct high-quality research independently and collaboratively to advance the osteochondral organoid platform
- design and fabricate biomaterials and organoid models relevant to aged or diseased tissues
- characterise biomaterials and organoids using advanced imaging, biochemical assays, and biosensing techniques
- publish research outcomes in leading international journals
- write competitive grant applications
- present findings at national and international conferences
- supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
- engage proactively with industry and clinical collaborators to facilitate translational research
- adhere to and promote the University's health, safety, and ethical guidelines.

- a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Science, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or a related field
- demonstrated expertise in biomaterials synthesis, 3D bioprinting, tissue engineering and organoid culture
- experience with organoid technology, bioinformatics, and biosensor integration is highly desirable
- proven capability for independent research, evidenced by high-quality publications
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- experience in mentoring or supervising students
- commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace
- an understanding of and adherence to university policies and procedures related to health and safety.
