Multiple Positions

The Café/Retail Assistant contributes to the delivery of a profitable café, retail and customer service functions, ensuring that visitors receive quality takeaway, casual dining and retail services at the Adelaide Gaol, one of South Australia’s significant heritage tourist attractions.

About the Gaol

The Adelaide Gaol, one of South Australia’s oldest and most significant heritage buildings, opened in 1841 and operated as a working prison for almost 150 years. Now over 180 years old, it is a tourist attraction where visitors can explore preserved cell blocks and learn about its ghost stories. Alongside tours and events, the Gaol features a gift shop offering unique giftware for visitors to take home a piece of history.

Contract

Contract for up to 12 Months

Special Conditions

- The Café/Retail Assistant contributes to the delivery of a profitable café, retail and customer service functions, ensuring that visitors receive quality dining and retail services at Adelaide Gaol
- May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or related duties
- Regular weekend and public holiday work is required, with availability during peak seasonal times including school holidays
- Wearing a company supplied uniform during working hours and when representing the department is mandatory
- Australian citizenship, permanent residence, or valid working visa to work in Australia
- Pre-employment National Police Check
- Pre-employment DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC), renewed every five years before expiry (DEW covers renewal cost)

Remuneration

GSE2 $35.65 min - $36.02 max per hour including a 25% leave loading in lieu of sick leave and annual leave
