About the Role

The Category Sourcing Specialist is critical to making this happen and is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of strategic sourcing initiatives within the category and vendor segment. You will initiate the development and execution of sourcing strategies in line with the category plan to drive commercial value for the business over both short- and medium-term horizons while also managing risks associated with the category.

What will your day look like?

The Category Sourcing Specialist is accountable for:

1. Understanding the nature of the supply base (national/regional/global) and the competitive forces of the supply market.
2. Fulfilling the business needs in line with category strategy, through conducting a vigorous approach to procuring goods and service ensuring the supply decision results in the appropriate balance of cost and quality.
3. Developing a pipeline of opportunities in conjunction with key business stakeholders/Contract Owners based on contract expiry; and proactive management of portfolio which includes contract expiry and sourcing pipeline to meet annual and quarterly plans.
4. Collaborating with the Category Manager to identify gaps in the category, emerging goods/services within the area, size of price/opportunity and feasibility of goods/services.
5. Orchestrating the sourcing process, including determining the sourcing strategy, executing the appropriate due diligence required, conducting market/supplier analysis, price benchmarking and conducting the negotiation process.
6. Interacting with internal stakeholders, including Project, Business, Legal, Risk and Vendors in order to facilitate sourcing outcomes; and work collaboratively across Procurement (PEC, AUS, NZ & Pacific, and APEA) and business stakeholders, Legal, Finance etc. to deliver opportunities related to third party spend.
7. Continuous improvement to help achieve procurement and business targets and demand savings opportunities.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

1. Experience in management of contracts and commercial procurement engagements; and delivering contract management related continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Strategic thinker to problem solve within highly complex and ambiguous situations.
3. Strong communicator, stakeholder and relationship management.
4. Understands risks and appropriate control options.
5. Strong commercial acumen with ability to analyze cost vs risk trade-offs, shape deal economics; high level of commercial acumen and strong negotiations skills and results oriented.
6. Understanding supply market dynamics, Third Party Risk and Regulatory requirements, external leading practice, market trends relevant to spend areas.
7. Understanding of end to end procurement lifecycle management across Strategy, Source to Contract, Supplier Relationship Management through to Req. to Pay.
8. Extensive experience in IT Software, Hardware and cloud sourcing.
