You will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and coaching Engineers and aspiring leaders in your teams while building a high‑performing yet psychologically safe environment for them to excel. You will own the engineering process, including agile delivery ceremonies, and work with engineering leaders from other teams or platforms to resolve issues that impact delivery. You are also responsible for ensuring high code quality, testing and security standards are integral to the team's culture.

You will collaborate closely with Product Managers to ensure the team understands the problems they are addressing and be accountable for the reliability and uptime of the applications your team manages. You will participate in incident management, team roster activities, take ownership when issues arise, run incident post‑mortems and ensure actions are completed to enhance the applications over time. Furthermore, you will manage any technology suppliers involved in delivering your service.

What you offer

- Relevant experience managing software engineering teams in a fast paced, agile environment

- Strong technical background in Java and open‑source technologies, with experience in design, implementing and operating mission‑critical, large‑scale applications and platforms

- Strong experience in cloud‑based technologies, including SaaS, AWS, and Google Cloud, with experience in managing and optimising infrastructure

- Critical thinker with solid understanding of how to build scalable, maintainable and performant software

- Ability to communicate clearly with product and technology stakeholders across the organisation
