Provide young people with safety, stability, predictability and consistency by supporting the implementation of individual strategies and plans, trauma-informed therapeutic care and outreach support that contributes to positive outcomes for young people and their families including mental health, physical health, employment and education.

Support young people to reduce their offending behaviours, heal from trauma and achieve their full potential; participate in team meetings and case review meetings to ensure that young people receive therapeutic services that meet their needs.

This is a Fixed Term Contract Position for 8 months Full-time, 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (these hours may vary slightly based on the needs of young people) based in Berkshire Park, within our A Place To Go Program. This position is responsive to the needs of young people via outreach support within the Nepean Area. The position reports to the APTG Coordinator.

About the role:

- Work collaboratively with APTG staff, DCJ's APTG staff, APTG partner agencies and other relevant agencies; young people and their families to develop strategies and plans for individual young people that address presenting issues, facilitate growth and change through the development of new skills and perspectives, and increase engagement in education, employment, training and community activities.
- Role model and reinforce positive behaviour through social learning, social responsibility and emotional intelligence.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of individual case plans that meet the emotional, social and behavioural needs of young people.
- Assist young people to develop independent living skills.
- Protect and respect the rights of young people.
- Safeguard the safety and wellbeing of young people and report any concerns immediately.
- Support young people to remain connected to the significant people and places in their lives.

Key selection criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Qualifications in youth work or relevant field or a lived experience could be considered.
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in youth work, residential care or supported accommodation.
- Demonstrated understanding of youth homelessness and young people engaged in the Youth Justice and Child Protection systems.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma and attachment, how this has impacted the young person's life and how to provide best practice therapeutic care.

- Valid and current Driver's License;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check.
