About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant is an essential role, responsible for providing high-quality support to our clinical staff (Doctors, Nurses, and Health Professionals) whilst maintaining a safe, friendly, and hygienic environment for all patients.
You will contribute to a strong team approach and undertake all duties with a focus on customer service and patient dignity.
Position Objectives:
Your core duties will ensure the smooth and safe operation of our surgical services unit:
- Patient Assistance & Transfers: Safely assist patients with transfers and mobility, including the proficient use of wheelchairs, lifting machines, and bed movers.
- Logistics & Housekeeping: Perform general duties, including cleaning beds/trolleys, maintaining and organising linen, restocking supplies, general environmental cleaning, and efficient waste management.
- Hygiene & Infection Control: Responsible for cleaning all areas, maintaining a high standard of hygiene strictly according to Infection Control Standards and procedural policies.
- Customer Service: Cultivate a hospitable and friendly environment for all patients, delivering excellent customer service to staff, clients, and patients alike.
- Teamwork & Safety: Work as an active team member to support all work tasks and operate strictly in line with WHS policy & procedures and OHS compliance.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Peri-operative Services Manager.
To be successful in this vital role, you must demonstrate:
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks inherent to the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with supervision as required.
- Able to comply fully with OHS/WHS policies and guidelines.
- Proven ability to prioritise work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- A strong, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team.
- Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.
- Working with Children (WWC) check.
Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient manoeuvring and manual handling principles and techniques.
- Relevant PCA/CNA/AIN qualification is highly desirable.
