This is a permanent part time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2025
John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is a leader in public education. Our college is located on Wadjuk Boodjar in Walyalup (Fremantle) and caters for approximately 1800 students from Years 7 to 12 who come to us through the seven Gifted and Talented programs run by the college for children identified as gifted in the creative domains, including Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, as well as through a small local catchment or participation in our Soccer Excellence Program, making the college a unique learning environment. For enrolled students the college also identifies learners gifted in the intellectual domain and runs dedicated programs in English, Humanities, Maths and Science.
Engagement in creativity and the Arts is a vehicle for student engagement and motivation at the college. The Arts at John Curtin provides dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) and develops transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
JCCA is a Quality Teaching Strategy Lead School and works to implement evidence-based best practice teaching in line with Teaching for Impact, offering professional development and collaboration with staff from other Department of Education schools.
Role and Responsibilities
The suitable applicants will support the teacher in delivering educational programs, ensuring safe and hygienic storage and handling of food and utensils. Under teacher direction they will assist with individual or small group demonstrations and be responsible for preparing and maintaining the learning environment, managing equipment and resources, assisting the teacher with cleaning and storage of items, and ensuring safety is maintained. They will also oversee classroom and storeroom resources, maintain inventory lists, monitor stock levels, and liaise with relevant staff for procurement and purchasing.
They should have a proactive, positive approach and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Ideal candidates will prioritise tasks, use initiative, and be organized and efficient.

Eligibility

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment;
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
