Every week, a team of generous people deliver delicious meals to wonderful people. Got a car, a licence, and a bit of time? Like to drive? We could do with you.
As part of the delivery team, you are on the “front line”, delivering our amazing meals out to our customers who need them. If you love a little chat, have a couple of hours in the middle of the day free and want to help out your local community, deliveries are for you
As we deliver in pairs, there are two role options, meaning you do not need to be able to drive or have use of a car to be able to deliver.
Driver:
As a driver, you will meet with your passenger at the branch or hospital site, help with loading the hot boxes into the car and deliver meals out to the customers in their homes. At the end of the round, you will return back to the work site, unload and continue on your day
As a driver, you will need to use your own vehicle for deliveries, however driver reimbursement is available. The distance involved is generally less than 15km per day. Drivers are required to hold a current drivers licence and comprehensive insurance (preferred) on their vehicle.

All training will be provided.
Shift opportunities are 11am – 1:30pm, Monday to Friday. Days available and frequency are set by you, the volunteer.
Skills/Requirements:
- Relate to and interact effectively with a range of people from diverse backgrounds
- Work cooperatively in a team environment
All volunteers are required to complete and provide:
- ACIC Police Check Informed Consent Form (free of charge) (or, if a volunteer already holds a current Police Check of any kind performed within the last 2 years, please provide a copy) Please note, a disclosable outcome on your police check does not necessarily preclude you from volunteering.
About Us
At Meals on Wheels SA, we assist many people in the community to live independently in their own homes by providing a high-quality meal delivery service. Our customers include those who cannot cook or shop for themselves with ease, such as older people, people with a disability, carers or those recovering from an illness of injury. Meals are delivered hot from Monday to Friday, or frozen meals are available, allowing customers more dining flexibility, especially for weekends or public holidays.

*Please note:* As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance).* Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15 hours per week.
