What’s the role?

The KYC Team is responsible for reviewing client files in accordance with local regulatory requirements and Westpac's Global Standards to facilitate the business’ KYC obligations. This role is part of the Customer Lifecycle Management Operations Hub and works directly with the Customers, Business, other Operational Teams and Financial Crime Compliance.

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities

- Customer Due Diligence & Compliance: Prioritize onboarding and periodic reviews, conduct KYC analysis, and collaborate with Business Units, Clients, and Compliance teams to gather and assess documentation.

- Policy & Process Adaptation: Stay updated with AML policies and procedures, contribute to change initiatives, and ensure procedures are accurate and current.

- Team Collaboration & Communication: Engage in team meetings and stand‑ups, support cross‑training, and maintain consistency across peer groups and Operations teams.

- Risk & Issue Management: Escalate issues appropriately, understand the risk environment, contribute to risk mitigation efforts, and ensure accurate reporting in AOM and IORAF platforms.

- Continuous Improvement & Development: Identify system/process enhancements, own delivery plans, manage personal training needs, and participate in ad hoc projects and industry initiatives.

What do I need?

- Qualifications & Experience: Degree preferred with 2–3 years of KYC/AML experience in banking; AML/KYC certifications are a plus.

- Regulatory & Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of KYC/AML across various financial entities and jurisdictions; familiarity with corporate and institutional banking products.

- Risk & Compliance Awareness: Control‑focused mindset with solid grasp of regulatory and reputational risks.

- Skills & Attributes: Detail‑oriented, analytical, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

- Communication & Teamwork: Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively across teams and jurisdictions.
