We lead procurement to secure products and services for government and achieve value for money for WA. We collect revenue to fund government services and administer grants and subsidies to the WA community.

- Opportunity to support our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and various Diversity and Inclusion Working Groups and Committees.

The work area

The Procurement Policy and Strategy business unit provides a whole-of-government approach to procurement policy, administration of the Procurement Act, procurement systems and intelligence, plus whole-of-government common-use arrangements and assurance functions that meet government needs, manage risks and deliver value for money.

The department operates under two sets of organisational values. The values of clarity, empathy, growth and collaboration guide activities in Procurement Policy and Strategy. As we settle into our new structure, we will collaboratively develop a unified set of values that represent the Department.

The role

The Assistant Director Procurement Intelligence and Reporting (PIR) leads the development and presentation of insightful reports and dashboards for stakeholders and the development of services in data modelling and analysis relevant to whole-of-government procurement. The role provides specialist advice in contemporary data analysis and business intelligence modelling, reporting practices and data integrity. The role champions effective data analysis and reporting to raise understanding and promote data-driven decision making.

This position operates in the context of Leading Others. You will deliver results through leaders and teams, and influence leaders in other areas. You will provide direction and coach your leaders to achieve operational objectives, and decide how services should be provided based on available resources.

Current staffing: There is one (1) full-time, fixed-term appointment for 9 months, with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.

The ideal candidate

In addition to technical competencies, you will have highly developed stakeholder engagement and strategic leadership skills to build strong working relationships. You will be committed to delivering value-adding services to customers and driven to improve the business and enable meaningful change.
