Location: Middle Swan Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Psychologist to join our team for a 12-month fixed term position commencing on the first January 2026. This role can either be full-time or part-time and you will assess student needs through observation and documentation, manage referrals and case collaboration, and contribute to the NCCD process with evidence-based reporting. Statement of Duties: - Consistently model the College’s Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with students, staff, and external stakeholders. - Conduct educational and psychological assessments, diagnoses, and reporting for children and adolescents, outsourcing as appropriate. - Provide counselling and wellbeing support for K–6 and Swanonline students, managing referrals and triage systems for those requiring assistance. - Plan and implement evidence-based interventions in collaboration with staff, professionals, and parents, including case conferences to address learning, behavioural, or socio-emotional concerns. - Maintain thorough records and databases (e.g., TASS, psychologist files) while ensuring compliance with duty of care and contributing to Support Plans, Curriculum Access, and NCCD reviews. - Collaborate with Learning Enrichment and Wellbeing teams, support data interpretation for psychoeducational assessments, and contribute to school events such as parent seminars. Key Responsibilities Include: Junior School (0.6 FTE): - Contribute as an active member of the Students Services Team, assisting the Deputy Head of Senior School, School Psychologist, Dean of Years, and other staff in delivering student welfare services. - Consult with the Learning Enrichment team to identify the students’ needs and appropriate support. - Work with the Dean and Director of Learning Enrichment to develop Support Plans and Curriculum Access Plans for students with Tier 3 needs. - Respond to assisting Student Services in their responses to critical incidents and emergencies. - Deliver professional learning for staff to enhance understanding of school-based mental health support and diverse learning needs. Swanonline (0.2-0.4 FTE): - Consult and collaborate with the Learning Engagement team to support student learning and wellbeing. - Partner with Deans of Engagement to develop documented plans that facilitate student access to learning within Inclusive Education and NCCD processes. - Work collaboratively with Chaplains, Deans, and teachers. - Provide individual therapy, case management, and referrals to external providers when necessary. - Support staff in promoting wellbeing and enhancing their understanding of student needs. Selection Criteria: Essential: - Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church. - Accepts and upholds the Association’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Statements of Belief, and Educational Objectives, living consistently with these principles. - Builds and maintains strong, healthy relationships with families, SCEA Head Office staff, and the College community. - Possesses exceptional communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills. - Shows initiative, sound decision-making under pressure, and the ability to take direction effectively. - Holds a current Working with Children card and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, meeting all compliance requirements. Desirable: - Experience in working in the Education sector. - Experience using TASS web.
