2026 Electrical Design Trainee Intake – Shepparton / Horsham / Melbourne CBD / Geelong

About us

At CitiPower and Powercor, we’re proud to deliver electricity to over a million Victorian customers every day through our network of poles and wires. But more than that, we’re here to power communities, support local businesses and keep critical services running smoothly. We’re essential to them all – and none of this happens without our people.

About our Traineeship Program

We’re excited to welcome new Trainees to our Electrical Design Team starting in February 2026

As an Electrical Design Trainee, you’ll help shape the electricity distribution network—designing additions and alterations that ensure safe, reliable power for our communities. You’ll contribute to major infrastructure projects, supporting the scoping, design, and cost estimation of overhead and underground electrical lines and structures. These designs guide our construction crews in building the network that powers homes, businesses, and essential services.

This program is ideal for individuals who are considering a pathway into the energy sector. It offers hands-on experience, mentorship from industry experts, and a chance to build a meaningful technical career in electrical design. The program is open to anyone willing to relocate to one of our offices in Shepparton, Horsham, Geelong, or Melbourne CBD.

Upon completion you could step into one of the following careers:

- Technical Design Officer: designing alterations to the network ready for construction
- Project Manager: overseeing the delivery of project to connect customers or improve the network
- Customer Requests Officer: providing quotations and information to new customers
- Maintenance Officer: ensuring the network operates safely
- Technical Drafting Officer: undertaking detailed construction and engineering drawings.

Our three-year program sees our Trainees:

- Be secure. Solid skills, real experience, and a future career that’s going places.
- Be trained. Earn a nationally recognised TAFE certification.
- Be supported. Great pay, valuable benefits, throughout your journey.
- Be valued. Feel supported from day one and grow as part of a wider team.
- Be hands-on. Build and learn practical skills from the best in the business.

If you want to be part of something essential, be essential with us earning an industry recognised qualification: Advanced Diploma – ESI Power Systems (Design).

To be eligible to apply, you need to meet one of the following pre-requisites:
