City of Melbourne, Australia REA Group Ltd. Full time

Join an organisation with a thriving culture centred around high performance and care

We're REA With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step – whether that's finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we’re proud to have been named in Australia’s “Top 5” Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

The Engineer – Mobile (iOS) role sits within the Listing Foundations squad, a key part of the Listing, Visualisation & Content business unit. The Listing Foundations squad is the team supporting and evolving the core systems that power property detail pages, search results, and listing content for millions of Australians every month. We keep these systems fast, reliable, and ready for innovation, enabling REA to deliver new features and high‑quality user experiences at scale.

What the role is all about

As an Engineer in the Listing Foundations team, you’ll join a cross‑functional, multi‑disciplined squad to deliver user‑facing experiences and solve real needs for millions of users. Our systems operate at massive scale, supporting some of the most heavily used features on realestate.com.au, and require solving complex integration challenges across multiple platforms.

You’ll be involved in the full development lifecycle: implementing features, building systems, resolving issues, and maintaining services, with the guidance and support of your team. Your technical skills in mobile development with a speciality in iOS will be essential for delivering robust, maintainable, and performant code.

You’ll have a solid understanding of mobile development principles, API integration, and performance optimisation. You’ll also have the opportunity to grow your skills by working outside your core mobile expertise—whether that’s contributing to backend APIs, cloud services, or automation pipelines—as you help the team deliver end-to-end solutions. You’ll contribute to technical discussions and ongoing improvements to our experiences, striving for high quality, maintainable solutions. You’re expected to keep learning by following technical trends and best practices, positively influencing team culture, and helping build collaborative, high-performing squads.

What you’ll be doing

- Write, test, and document high-quality code aligned with REA Engineering standards and practices.
- Own and deliver features or stories as part of broader team initiatives through to the glass.
- Apply engineering skills to create well-crafted, scalable solutions.
- Solve defined technical challenges, collaborating with senior engineers on more complex problems.
- Participate in discussions about technical architecture, direction, and development practices.
- Collaborate and pair with other engineers to ensure integrated, consistent solutions that meet team goals.
- Contribute to squad ways of working and help foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Work closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to build solutions serving user needs.
- Maintain and enhance existing products and services, including bug fixes and feature improvements.
- Supporting production systems, including being part of the day pager on call roster.

Who we’re looking for

- Solid experience in mobile software development, with proficiency in iOS.
- Proven ability to build and maintain high-quality, performance, and scalable mobile applications.
- While mobile is your core strength, you have the willingness and curiosity to work across the stack when needed, supporting integrations, backend services, and delivery pipelines.
- Experience contributing to the delivery of product features—from implementation through to deployment and support.
- Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and discuss technical concepts clearly.
- Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment, with a focus on quality, maintainability, and user experience. • Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
- Commitment to the “you build it, you run it” philosophy, taking ownership of your code from development into production.
- Familiarity with dev-ops tools and techniques, particularly Docker, Git, GCP, AWS, and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with building solutions that perform well for a large user base.
- An interest in contributing to technical discussions and learning about mobile architecture and best practices from senior peers

- A hybrid and flexible approach to working
- Flexible leave options including, birthday leave and purchase additional leave
- Flexible parental leave offering for primary and secondary carers
- Our Because We Care program offers employees volunteering leave, community grants, matched payroll giving and our Community Café donates 100% of revenue to charity

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking. If you've got the skills, dedication and enthusiasm to learn but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch.

Like a lot of companies, we have perps out there who like to ‘phish’ and have had a few recent instances of people pretending to be from REA and making offers of employment, on the condition that they transfer money for security checks.
