Senior Lecturer in Early Intervention/Psychology-Children

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lectuter in Early Intervention /Psychology for Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to join our team at Macquarie. This is a permanent full-time role, working 38 number of hours per week across 5 days and reports directly to Director,NextSense Institute.
We are seeking a scholar with broad expertise in the fields of education of the deaf, early intervention, and psychology, including experience in delivering and designing postgraduate and continuing professional educational, a successful track record of research, and ability to work in clinical practice in one or more of these roles. The successful applicant will need the capacity to bridge across domains in early intervention, education, and psychology for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, including the ability to teach postgraduate courses in several of the following areas:
- Normal language acquisition and language development for children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Language and literary development for children who are deaf or hard of hearing and the assessment of and intervention in that development in infants and school age children
- Family-centred early intervention for children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Research methods in education/social sciences
- Inclusive education for children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Social, language, and cultural studies in deafness.
The successful candidate will undertake research in areas related to education and/or early intervention for deaf and hard of hearing children and will provide leadership in the development of new pre-service postgraduate coursework for early intervention, education, allied health, and other associated professionals.
The successful candidate will have the potential to fill a clinical role in psychology for children who are deaf or hard of hearing including the ability to mentor staff who may have limited experience in working with this population.
It is our goal that the successful applicant will contribute to building capacity within the staff of NextSense and work to place NextSense Institute's professional education and research at the forefront of education nationally and internationally.

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.
You will have a doctoral level qualification in education and/or psychology, or a relevant a relevant discipline. You will have evidence of having delivered high quality learning and teaching in one or more of the fields of education of the deaf, early intervention, and psychology.
You will have excellent skills as a practitioner in your relevant discipline and be able to supervise the practical experience of teachers and/or early intervention professionals working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as fulfilling a clinical role as a psychologist with children who are deaf or hard of hearing within the early intervention and school-aged programs of NextSense.
Be an excellent communicator who is proactive, flexible, and able to work well in teams with strong interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
Have a record of engagement and fostering relationships with relevant external stakeholders
You will have a sustained record of research and quality publications, with a growing national and/or international reputation and experience with research student supervision.
