Project Coordinator | Darwin | Full-time Fixed Term (Till August 2026)
The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a driven and capable Project Coordinator to join our Regional Development team based in Darwin. This role supports sustainable land use and development outcomes across Aboriginal land in the Top End, working alongside Traditional Owners.
About the Role
As Project Coordinator, you’ll be at the centre of land use planning and project delivery under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (ALRA). You’ll manage third-party Expressions of Interest and oversee Land Use Agreements, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess proposals, facilitate consultations, and support negotiations between Traditional Owners and external stakeholders. From coordinating field visits and meetings to preparing high-level reports and managing budgets, this role thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment and is aligned to supporting Aboriginal land rights and development.

- Facilitate consultations and support negotiations between Traditional Owners and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess proposals and drive development outcomes under ALRA.
What you will Bring
- Strong background in project coordination and stakeholder engagement; cultural sensitivity and collaboration across disciplines.
- Confident communicator; ability to navigate complex processes and work across cultures.
- Experience with Aboriginal communities or within statutory frameworks like ALRA is highly regarded.
- Ability to listen, adapt, and lead with respect.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Project Management, Business or related field and/or minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in project management, land management and budgets.
- Minimum of two (2) years practical experience coordinating and facilitating project administration.
- Experience in financial planning and management including budgeting, cost recovery and corporate credit management.
- Current NT Driver’s licence; ability to travel regionally/remote areas in a 4WD.

Salary and Benefits
- Base salary of $115,194 per annum plus 15% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900; meal entertainment and holiday accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under the Enterprise Agreement include:
- District allowance up to $4,797 per annum for dependents (or $2,630 without dependents).
- 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave; paid Christmas close down.
- Annual airfare after 12 months of service (net value approx. $3,177).
