The Role

The High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced APS6 Business Management Officer to coordinate complex financial, contract, and business management activities in our Acquisition Office. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of acquisition outcomes through robust financial oversight, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

You will be accountable for cost management processes, ensuring a clear and consistent approach that aligns with management and financial accounting activities. You will work closely with the Business Manager and Deputy Director to align business operations with strategic objectives, while managing financial performance, procurement compliance, and project support functions.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead financial and cost analysis to support project budgeting and procurement decisions.
- Manage complex business operations including contract management, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Oversee project budgets, cash flow, and contingency planning to ensure optimal use of Commonwealth funds.
- Develop and maintain financial management systems aligned with legislative and policy requirements.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, contracting, and financial policy.
- Coordinate financial audits and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex financial and cost issues.
- Build strong working relationships across teams and contribute to broader organisational outcomes.
- Plan and manage administrative and business support activities, review of financial risks and support appropriate course of action to meet stakeholder needs.
- Lead workflow planning and resource allocation to meet project milestones.
- Analyse and improve current processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

HFSSPO acquires, sustains, and exports High Frequency radar capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. This includes the world leading Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar.

Our Ideal Candidate

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a business management setting, including financial management and administrative support, to achieve business outcomes.
- Experience in complex financial management of project budget portfolios within the constraints of legislative and policy frameworks
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders in a sensitive and confidential manner.
- Well-developed analytical and problem resolution skills to identify and analyse issues or problems and develop and document effective solutions.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively, establish, and maintain effective and productive working relationships.
- Proven ability to apply self-management, initiative and resilience to work

Remuneration: $95,187 - $108,734 + up to 15.4% Superannuation. Location: Edinburgh - SA.
