Overview

Based at our welcoming Bairnsdale Campus, we have an opportunity for a Specialist Learning Support Teacher to join our team. This is a full time, permanent position to start at the beginning of Term 4 2025. This role will see you supporting a Year 3 Student who is joining the campus in 2026, you will be required to have knowledge and proven experience supporting students with neurodiversity needs.

About You

Candidates will need to be a VIT Registered teacher, have a strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Syllabus and be willing to embrace modern teaching methods and technologies.

Essential Experience

- Expertise in neurodiversity: Demonstrated experience in supporting students with Down Syndrome and broader neurodiverse needs.
- Individualised education planning: Proven ability to develop and implement personalised learning programs, with strong skills in differentiation and adjustment documentation (aligned to NCCD).
- Collaboration: Capacity to work closely with classroom teachers, families, allied health professionals, and support staff to create a consistent approach.
- Behaviour and engagement strategies: Familiarity with trauma-informed practice, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support), and approaches like “Kids Do Well If They Can” (Ross Greene).
- Communication supports: Understanding of AAC, visuals, and strategies for supporting expressive/receptive language.
- Leadership within support: Ability to mentor, coordinate, and upskill colleagues in inclusive practice.
- Personal care and dignity: Ability to provide respectful support with toileting and hygiene needs, following student care plans, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding the student’s dignity at all times.

The OneSchool Global Bairnsdale Campus is located on the outskirts of Bairnsdale, in the charming village of Lucknow. The historic building is outfitted with cutting-edge technology to support both online and in-person teaching. The dynamic learning spaces foster an inventive and forward-looking educational setting for all students. With a cozy school vibe and a focus on tailored learning experiences, the campus accommodates 30 students spanning from years 3 to 12.
